REALTEK HD AUDIO ALC665 PERMITS ONLY MIC RECORDING

Post by signaller » Sat Mar 12, 2011 11:01 pm

I have recently installed Audacity 1-3-12 beta on a Dell L501x XPS laptop using Windows 7 Ultimate OS.
The soundcard in the machine is Realtek HD Audio ALC665. Details at

http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/prod ... ProdID=252

But the Audacity window Devices tab shows only "Master" . In effect therefore the only input available is from the microphone.
I wish to record streaming audio directly and only from the soundcard. At present, streaming audio is overlaid and spoiled by sound coming in through the microphone. If I turn off the microphone there is no recording with Audacity.

I'd be gratful for a solution to this and hope it can also be incorporated in the upcoming stable version 2 of Audacity.
In the meantime, my appreciation and admiration for the achievements of the Audacity developers for their magnificient programe !

This is not an Audacity issue as such - the available recording sources is dependent on the sound card (audio device) and its drivers.
If the sound card and drivers support other inputs, then you will be able to configure them in the Windows Control Panel: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panel
