Problem with the screen display

I just installed Audacity on Windows XP. The first time I opened the program it worked fine. The second time, all the menu titles were question marks and the drop down lists were also. (in other words, across the top of the screen instead of saying file, edit view and so on.. it said ???? ???? ???? ??? ?????

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling already.

Any hints?

Which version of Windows?
Which version of Audacity?

Press Ctrl+P to open up "Preferences".
Select the 6th tab.
From the selection box, choose your preferred language.

I'd also recommend upgrading to Audacity 1.3. (1.3.13 is due out in a week or so, so that would be a good time to upgrade).
