Windows 7, how can I record audio playing from internet?

Post by jimkroger » Mon Feb 28, 2011 10:03 am

I need to record music playing in my browser, for my guitar lessons.
Audacity always just records using my web cam microphone and it's bad.
How can I directly record music playing in my browser (or other source on my computer)?
I know windows 7 messes up the mixer drop down. I read the instructions and tried to follow them on
using the windows sound control panel but I find nothing that corresponds to audio in my browser or other software source playing music.

Thanks for any help.

Jim

For Windows 7 you should be using Audacity 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/
(you have posted in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum)

Nothing wrong with that page, but for Windows the question/solution is dealt with in more detail on this page http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panel (the page that your link goes to also links to this page).

Yes, 1.3.12 beta (though 1.3.13 beta is due out later this month).
Haw far have you got? At what point are you getting stuck?
