Hi,

I'm hoping someone else has had the same problem as I'm having. I'll try and give as much info as possible, sorry if I give more than needed but better too much than too little!

I'm trying to record from a USB LP player using Audacity. I had previously done this without any problems but now when I try to record I'm not getting any movement on the Input levels of the mixer. The input device is set to microphone (not sure this is right!). In the Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O menu my sound card is selected for both playback and recording. I'm using windows XP and soundmax digital audio , nothing is muted on the volume control panel, and on the sound card panel only microphone is muted for playback devices and only microphone is selected for record devices (It will only let me select one at once, the other options being cd player, aux, line in, phone, mono out, wave out).

Hope I've given the details needed, please help!

Make sure that the USB turntable is plugged in and recognised by Windows before you open Audacity (look for the USB icon in the sys tray)

Open Audacity and go to "Edit > Preferences >Audio I/O" (short cut key CTRL+P)
Set the Recording device to the USB turntable and the Playback device to your sound card.
(Optional - enable "software playthrough" to allow you to monitor the recording through your computer speakers - there is a slight delay between the recording and playback when you use "software playthrough").
