Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Little Trouble

Post by Bronzemockingbird » Wed Feb 16, 2011 2:40 pm

I don't know what happened or what I did but at some point the ability to click over a given track has been lost on my copy of the application.. I was wondering if this is a common problem or does the fix involve a detailed route of "hoops" to jump through. I'll explain further.. When I go to record a live track with a click track involved, the click track doesn't mix with the hot track. I've had no issues like this previously while using the 16bit mode on the selected audio track.. I'm not sure if the jump to 32bit affected the protocols of the application causing it not to work.. I really don't know. I've tried everything seemingly, nothing works. Do you know what I did to make the click disappear over the hot track??

In Audacity 1.3.12, it's Edit > Preferences > Recording > Play tracks while recording new ones [X].

You might want to upgrade. We sometimes wait until people start having troubles and then strongly urge upgrading rather than hanging around trying to patch together Audacity 1.2. 1.2 is no longer supported, upgraded, corrected, or patched.

You can install both, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 will open up Audacity 1.2 projects.

I don't want to communicate like the newb that I am to Audacity nor do I want to ask the same question twice for that matter. But, here's the dilemma.. I've just installed Audacity Beta and generated a click track. The click track not only failed to sound while recording, it wouldn't do so even over the files created on Audacity 1.2 either. The click tone was audible however during playback. I don't mean to waste your time. I may have an issue with my cpu config or something.. I doubt it's a glitch in the application because it worked fine for about a day and a half of manipulation then, nothing. I could be wrong. I hope that someone can help in this matter. I love using the application I think it's just my 'speed' and like the ease of use. I wish to continue to use the app but if I can't use one of the core functions, I may have to search elsewhere for my fix. I hate to spend money.

I'm not totally clear what the question is, but it sounds like you need to enable "Overdub" which is near the bottom of the "Transport" menu.
