Cannot Record In Audacity Using Laptop

When i open up audacity, and i try to select the options of stereo mix, mix etc, i cannot click on the drop down menu. what can i do inorder to fix it? i have a sony vaio nw series laptop.

Some Windows laptops have no provisions to record "Stereo Mix" or the other variations.
