Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

duuuuumb beginner question

Post by jimkroger » Sat Feb 05, 2011 5:53 pm

Hi, downloaded Audacity (way cool! thank you!), opened a 20 minute .wma file, hit play, and it roared (that's what it sounds like too) through it in one second. I searched docs but never found anything about speed of playback.

Any tips on how to make it play back the right speed would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Audacity 1.2 does not support WMA files. You need Audacity 1.3.12 and FFMpeg. (see links below)
http://audacityteam.org/download/
http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... tallffmpeg

If the problem with no sound persists after upgrading Audacity, please give details of your set-up (what sort of computer, what operating system, what sort of sound card, any audio devices connected to the computer ... too much information is better than not enough)
