Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

a little help?

Post by Halbern » Thu Feb 03, 2011 8:32 pm

I have just installed ver 1.2.6 which came with my new cassette to mp3 player. When I plug the cassette player into the usb port and try to record, I am not getting any audio. I have to record a whole piece and unplug the player before sound will return to my speakers. In other words I can't listen while recording, but can after the piece is recorded and I unplug the unit. Is this something within audacity or a hardware issue?

Thanks :)

You should probably download and install Audacity 1.3.12 from here...

http://audacityteam.org/download/

Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported. You don't have to take the old one off. 1.2 and 1.3 will co-exist -- although don't try to run both at once. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2.

This is an instructional thing on how to do what you're doing. When you plug a USB device into a Windows machine, it assumes the device needs to take over the computer. You can change that in the Windows Control Panels. and one or two Audacity settings.
