Hi there. I followed your instructions to the letter and it improved but I still have skip problems. Even if my PC is only working with Audacity, skips and blank spaces do arise, much, much less than before but there they are!! What else do you suggest me?? Thanks

You can see the hard drive activity light, right? If you start a recording, you should get a light at the beginning and then a flash about every five or ten seconds as Audacity writes the show to the disk. If your drive starts thrashing and the light comes on constantly, or anything more than a leisurely flash now and again, there's something wrong.

My machine writes a 44100, 16-bit, Stereo show to the drive about every eight seconds during recording.

You are also talking yourself into a memory test. Audacity and many other production programs use all the memory. If you have a ratty stick up in high memory, only Audacity (and sometimes Photoshop) will find it and it will create instabilities.

Eduardo, and update.

I think that Pinnacle may have discontined the PVT device - I think they have superseded it wit the Dazzle Video Creator device (which from what I can see needs to be connected to a computer via USB for the capture) - but the good nows is that package now includes as well as the hardware some editing and DVD burning software.

Thank you Koz for your help. To be fully honest I'm a little dissapointed with Audacity. I thought it was simpler to use. However, I'm going to follow your advice both the lights of the hard drive and memory test. I saw somewhere that there are perhaps better softwares than Audacity that can help me digitalize my Lps. Is this true? My audacity came with my UFO202 apparatus. I will continue to post my results here. Again, thanks.

Koz: The red light flashes about every second. very dim light or stays lit also very dim for some 5 seconds, then it returns to flashing each second more or less, what can be wrong?
