matching bpm/pitch of 2 tracks

Post by bonna » Mon Jan 24, 2011 1:20 pm

hello,

i'am having trouble matching the bpm/pitch of 2 tracks on audacity....

one track is an acapella and the other is an instrumental
i can play the acapella over the instrumental perfectly on my cdjs but want to get an exact copy through audacity so i can save it as a wav or mp3

i ahve managed to get both the tracks into a page on audacity and move the acapella track to where i would like it to start, but as the tracks are different bpm/pitch the acapella doent play in time with the instrumental,
i have tried using the effect to adjust pitch, tempo, speed but cant seem to get it quite right...

i'am sure there is an easy solution to get both tracks playing at the same bpm...?

please help
thanks

If you use the "Change Speed" effect on the track that is 124 bpm and increase the speed by 0.8% then it should be quite close.

Move the tracks left/right so that they both start at exactly time=0.0
Select the 124 bpm track and increase the speed by 0.8%.
Check near the end of the tracks:
  • if the track that was 124 bpm is a little bit late, you need to speed it up a little bit more.
  • if the track that was 124 bpm is a little bit early, you need to slow it down a little.
Make increasingly small adjustments (+ or -) to the same track until they are synchronised at the end.
