Im having a bit of difficulty trying to record things from youtube. Not only is the sound extremely quiet, I can also hear me clicking the mouse as I start the youtube video. I also hear keyboard strokes. I also tryed making the record device my speakers and I still hear my mouse. It worked fine on XP. Vista must have diffrent defaults.
Can I just say that I think audacity should be able to choose, with ease, whether to recored microphone, speakers or both. Its too confusing! D=

If it were possible, Audacity would. Unfortunately operating systems and device drivers rule the sound system, and Audacity is a slave to it, so you have to sort the sound system out so that Audacity can use it. Vista seems to be particularly unhelpful when it comes to recording.aiselne wrote:Can I just say that I think audacity should be able to choose, with ease, whether to recored microphone, speakers or both. Here's a couple of links that may help lead to the answer (I don't use Vista, and this is one of the reasons why not).

Heh heh. Sounds like you have your mike set up as the default input, that's why you hear those sounds. I've never tried what you're doing, but try the microsoft sound mapper input at the preferences box.
