Cursor Doesn't Move

I tried Audacity a few days ago, and everything seemed to work fine. Today, however, every time I try and start a new project, I hit the record button and the red line just trembles, like it wants to start moving, but it never leaves the starting point. I am trying to record audio from a cassette player, and I'm hearing the audio on the computer's speakers, so I know the audio is set up correctly. Anyone know why I can't get the line to move?

Is your computer filling up? Do a properties on your hard drives and see. No production hard drive should be over 90% full. You should defrag your drives, too. Audacity has a really hard time recording music on a badly fragmented drive.
