Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Recording Skype Interviews with Audacity

Post by disneypincaster » Thu Jul 03, 2008 4:32 pm

Hello,
I'm a newbie, so please pardon my "Simple" questions.
Is it possible to record myself and my guest on skype using Audacity??
If so how do I need to configure my setup?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Regards,

I'm hoping somebody posts to tell me I'm full of soup, but I don't think so.

I think maybe you can record either half of the conversation, but I don't think you can ever get both. By the time you figure out how to record everything you want, you can't make the call any more. Skype and its cousins take over the sound services and do not give them back to you. They became successful by forcing the computer to route sound in a very special way and fail if it can't achieve that way.

You can certainly do this with two computers. Establish the call using live microphone and speakers on one computer and connect a live microphone to the other and record both sides in a quiet room.
