I downloaded and put the effects in the audacity plugins folder but they are greyed out in audacity. I also installed the LADSPA plugins. Can't see anything new to work with when I reopened audacity. Also can someone tell me if any of the programs has a separate volume control of each track. So I can adjust the volume of each track at any point but especially before I render? I have had audacity installed before but I had some kind of hardware issue I think(different computer) and I have it installed on Ubuntustudio but no one has helped me far enough with damn Jack so I am forced to use crappy old windoze.

Just to cover the bases, you did select some audio on the timeline first, right?

Oops that never occured to me. Thanks that is exactly what i was supposed to do. *embarrassed*
