No Sound!!
This is the second time I am using this program the first time I figured out how to record. The volume/sound was low but it worked for what I needed. Now I am trying to record and I am getting no sound when I playback but I am not having issues with anything else sound related. Help I needed something recorded and sent off today. I have spent the last 4 hrs trying to figure this out. I even downloaded other programs thinking that was the issue but same results.

Re: No Sound!!
We live on fine details. Exactly what are you trying to record and how is it connected? Pretend I'm trying to buy the same equipment you have.

Re: No Sound!!
I am trying to record my son for a voice over audition. We are using a plug in mic. We are using a desktop and the system is vista. Like I said I have done this before with no issues besides low volume.

Re: No Sound!!
You need to go into the Windows Control Panels and make sure the Microphone is the uncontested source for recording. This can suffer if you like to record internet radio shows or you like and use Skype or equivalent. All mess with the sound pathways.
Then, after you straighten that out (and make sure the microphone is plugged all the way in firmly), open Audacity and make sure Audacity Preferences are pointed at the same thing Windows is. Is that the exact same microphone you used earlier? Not all microphones plug into a sound card.

Re: No Sound!!
I'm assuming an analog microphone. You can have a plug-in USB microphone and those are very different. Many USB microphones suffer from low volume, that's why I ask.

Same Mic. I have check in the control panel and on audacity and they all say in frontmic and shows plugged in and working.
Re: No Sound!!
For Vista you need to use Audaicty 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/
When you were looking in the Windows Control Panel, did you find the "Recording Level Control"?

Re: No Sound!!
I tried both systems. I had both downloaded and both did the same thing. No I don't see recording level control in the control panel.
Re: No Sound!!
I think that you need to find it.valhoops wrote: No I don't see recording level control in the control panel.
I'm not on a Vista machine, but I think the volume control is somewhere like:
Start menu > Control Panel > Sounds
Recording Tab
Right click on the device that you are using (microphone?) and select "Properties"
Go to the Advanced Properties.
If the instructions are not quite right, please correct me.
