Audiacity 1.2.6 error while recording ... cant open temp fil

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

@Mario62

You asked the same question in another topic, and you now have two sets of replies , which is confusing the issue.

I have merged the two topics so that everyone can see the whole picture.

I think you then need to right click on the "USB microphone" device and select "Properties",
then click on "Advanced".

Somewhere round there is a setting for the recording properties which includes the "Quality" (set it to "44100 Hz 16 bit CD Quality")
and the number of channels (set that to "stereo").

Then start Audacity and go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" and you should now be able to select "2 channels (stereo)".
Then go to the "Quality" tab and ensure that the default sample rate is set to 44100.
Bingo ! Got it. thank you very much. Now i can select in V1.3 the same as in 1.2.

Interesting that i do not have to change these settings in windows control panel to be able to use 2 channels with the 1.2.x version.

greetings,
mario.

The Lenco should not show up as a microphone in the devices list. It should appear as "USB Audio Codec" as shown in the Lenco document.
Do you have a USB microphone connected as well as the Lenco? if so, unplug it and try again.

Hello,

a) no, nothing else is connected to the Laptop, and there is more or less no other software running (except windows vista and whatever it starts).
the laptop is a clean machine. normally i connect via a OpenVPN and RemoteDesktop to my desktop machine.
there are just the 2 Audacity Software versions installed.

b) yes, i am aware of this, that the lenco docu says "usb audio codec". but on other locations the docu says "whatever usb audio codec shows up"... And there is no other usb audio codec except this microphone.
i guess the name comes from windows vista.

thanks a lot for your reply,

mario.

With Audacity 1.2, is it actually recording both channels, or just recording the left channel twice?
