IT Turntable Stops After Recording 20 Seconds
hi, i have this IT usb turntable. everything is installed fine. the problem is that it quits recording after 20 to 25 seconds and behaves as if it's at the end of the LP. i followed the directions for setup...the screw...moving the tone arm to the middle several times before playing the record. the 25 seconds that it records is fine. it plays through my speakers and records. it just gives up the ghost after 25 seconds. ideas?? thanks!! geo

If you mean the arm is lifting off the record prematurely, this is often reported with cheap turntables. Look at its manual. Make sure there is no separate switch for 7 inch records that you set by mistake. Otherwise take it back where you got it. Try a reputable brand like those listed here. Check "Alternatives" at the top of that page to see if you even need a USB turntable.

Re: IT Turntable Stops After Recording 20 Seconds
I have this same problem. And no matter where I start on the LP, 1st, middle or last track, the tone arm lifts and returns after 25 seconds.
I bought it a year ago, and just took it out of the box to start using. So my 90 day warrenty is long gone. Doesn't anyone have an idea ?
This is a "Starlogic" trntble, BTW. Discontinued in the last year sometime. Thankz for any help.

The turntable is faulty. It makes sense to test an electrical product when you get it in case you have to return it. I have never seen an answer to this problem. There is a "manual" I've looked at but the only relevant "controls" are an eject button and a speed control. Unless you can break the mechanism somehow by e.g. forcing the eject button in while holding the tonearm, I don't know what to suggest. Take off the plug and the cartridge/stylus, any other parts, bin the rest and buy something more reputable. It's your risk whatever you want to do.humblefloyd wrote:I have this same problem. Re: IT Turntable Stops After Recording 20 Seconds
There's probably no "proper" way to turn it off, but on the one that I took apart, the turntable was held on by a single circlip (C-clip) under the turntable mat (the mat was glued on). Under the turntable was a gear mechanism and an activation lever that controlled the auto return mechanism. The fault with the one that I was looking at was that a spring for the activating lever had come off. I repaired the turntable by replacing the spring, but if that had not been successful I could have removed the lever to permanently disable the auto-return mechanism. I have no idea if your turntable will be the same, but if it is otherwise destined for the trash can then it may be worth having a look.humblefloyd wrote:It just occured to me, is there a way to disable the "auto return"feature on the turntable all together ?
