When I try to install Audacity on my company laptop, I get the message:
Error creating registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstallAudacity_is1
RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5.
Access is denied.
This looks to me like the installer tries to add an icon in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in control panel. Can anyone help me determine a workaround for this?
Is there a way to go in and change the 1 value to 0?
install problem; work around?

You probably don't have the necessary Administrative privileges to install a program that makes registry entries.
You could try installing Audacity 1.3.x as this saves preferences in a file rather than the registry. If that fails you will need to ask your computer administrator to install it for you.
