Hi,
I just experienced something strange. My audacity crashed - of course right after I had recorded something very important... Now when I restart audacity, a popup informs me that there is data that is not saved nor deleted. The program can not recover that data automatically, but I should be able to find and recover it manually. The question is - where can I find that unsaved, undeleted data on my pc?
where is my recorded data after program crash?

1.2 is not very good at recovery. This is much improved in 1.3 and I would urge you to upgrade to 1.3.12 for future work.

Once you've sorted out or given up on this particular problem I would highly recommend that you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12. Most users find it to be more stable than the old 1.2.6 version, and in the event of a crash it can usually recover the project automatically when you restart the program. http://audacityteam.org/download/

Great, thanks!
I'll try the recovery - and I definitely will upgrade

And thanks again - recovery procedure was easy, the problem was that some of the files had disappeared (i.e. not saved) in temp. But I managed to save most! And as you might not have expected - audacity crashed once again. So the update is now in order

Re: where is my recorded data after program crash?
Even with the current 1.3.12 Recovery can often take place with some missing/orphaned mini-files. I usually check the box that says "Work around ... silently" rather than getting them deleted.
I understand that recovery has been further improved in the Alpha 1.3.13 version - so the next Beta should get the improved recovery.
