Export WAV left/right mix ignored

Post by philipmark » Fri Jun 20, 2008 3:28 pm

Dear All

I have a problem with a final Wav mix.

I have created a track that contains a metronome click on the Left channel and all the music on the Right channel. When I play the edit in Audacity it plays the Left and Right channels as set. Perfect.

I export the edit as a Wav file. I then play the Wav file only to find that my Left and Right settings have been ignored and the 2 channels have been mixed together. ARRHH! I wanted them separate as I had set them in the edit. Any ideas where I am going wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Just to cover the bases, dig into Audacity preferences and make sure the number of channels is set for stereo and not mono. Audacity wakes up from First Birthday in mono.

Does your timeline look like this...

If you have two mono tracks instead of a linked stereo track, Audacity will mix the two together. The options for that are under the black arrow on the left.

Thanks Koz

I think you have solved my problem. :D

I have the following:
A stero track (music) set to the right.
A mono track (click) set to the left.

You are quite right, Audacity is mixing the mono track to both channels. Thank you.

Phil
