Have you exported successfully before?

Also check silly little things like Windows Media volumes etc etc.

That's a common problem - the USB audio device in the ION TT takes over the Windows sound system for recording AND playback (even though the ON TT is not a playback device. The correct fix for this is to go into the Windows Control Panel, and in the "Audio Devices" section, set your normal sound card so that it is always used for playback. The alternative (easier?) way is to unplug the ION TT when you want to play back.

No don't do it :o These are not audio files, they are Audacities data files. If you move, delete, or change any of these files you can very easily corrupt the entire Audacity project. You only have a regular audio file after you Export from the Audacity File menu.

Do they play in any other media player? Try Foobar2000 (excellent free audio player - does not look great, but is about the best audio player available for playing audio files and is also useful for converting audio files from one format to another).

But what good does that do when you need the ION TT to work? I have this same problem. It looks like audacity is working, but I want to hear what I'm playing while it is playing. It's worse than before -- at least in the past I could open audacity and turn on the ION, then make my recordings. Then I'd close everything and all the sound would be gone from my computer. So I would have to unplug the ION, and restart my computer to get sound. It is really stupid and annoying. It is probably a simple setting, but I don't know how to change it. I use Windows Vista if that helps. Thank you!

Hopefully this will answer the Ion turntable questions. :)

Go to message #9 at this address: http://forums.ion-audio.com/showthread.php?t=365 (it should be the No sound on Vista machine thread)

For a little more step-by-step on the configuration go to Step 2 here: http://computershopper.com/howto/how-to ... p3s-200706 (after reading the above message, of course)

In a similar vein (while trying to stay on topic), I found a quirk on one of my Vista machines that has a Creative X-Fi sound card. I exited a program and found that I had no sound virtually anywhere else. Media player played sound but nothing else did. I ended up having to switch my sound card from game mode to entertainment mode and it fixed the problem where nothing else would, including a shutdown and restart. I still am not quite sure why this happened but it worked.

For those of you experiencing this issue with the Ion please let us know if this helped or not. Good luck.
