Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

playback speed

Post by reallyamermaid » Sat Jun 14, 2008 5:59 am

Hello. I am new here. I imported a lengthy audio track into Audacity. I was hoping to select a portion of it and save that in its own new file. When I try to play it back, I get a super-condensed version. What should be a 30-minute slice is played back in less than a second. Chipmunks on crack. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

Hi,

i have the same problem. If i want to listen music every music has a problem with the playback speed.
The problem is only in the Windows Media player. Other players like quictime work fine.

What can we do!!?

You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support . Audacity Supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC & MP2 in 1.3.

If this is the case you have two basic options:

1. find and use some converter software to convert your file to a type that Audacity supports

2. play the file in any music software that supports that particular file format and record it in Audacity.
