I have a recording problem.......... I have the exact same version of Audacity 1.2 on both machines. I can record into the program from an external source using RCAs from source line out into a Behringer U_Control UCA200 controller with a USB out into a USB port on the computer. On the laptop this works perfectly and I can record into the program without any problems. ON the PC I cannot get any signal at all going into the program. Can anyone help me please as I cannot see what is different.
I did notice that the version that I replaced today on the PC ( downloaded again from Audacity site to see if there was an issue with my existing version) is different in that the drop down on the screen at the right hand side top where there should be a selection of inputs, phone line, microphone, cd player, stereo mix or mono mix is unavailable on the PC but is available on the laptop.....
many thanks
why won't audacity record in on my PC but will on my laptop?

Re: why won't audacity record in on my PC but will on my lap
The recommended version of Audacity is now Audacity 1.3.12. I would highly recommend upgrading.
In Audacity 1.3.12, go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" and set the USB device as the Recording device. Set the Playback device to whichever device you are using for playback.
