Hi, I've read posts about mp3 encoding problems..but i am still stuck..
I use Windows XP
I had been using Audacity for ages but I just came back for some recording after few weeks off..and I now cannot do what I used to do : save as mp3.
it says to obtain lame_enc.dll and would I like to locate lame_enc.dll now
of course i do !! but when I click OPEN .. it tells me "could not open mp3 encoding library.

So, i decided today to update my version of Audacity , from 1.2.4 to 1.2.6
I also clicked on the lame download for Windows: libmp3lame-win-3.97.zip
it is saved and zipped at 1.52 KB
I also have a zipped file called: lame_enc.zip, 102 kb
but ..after all this..I am exactly where I started. i cannot saved my audio file as mp3.
I am pretty frustrated and would love to hear from you telling me about a very easy and quick answer..please :?

this is my first post on a forum..so please can you use as much plain english as possible, thanks :) Christine

Download the lame encoder from the link on the main Audacity website.
Unzip it onto your hard drive - it's not particularly important where, but you need to know where you have unzipped it so that you can direct Audacity where to find it.

See full instructions here: http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=inst ... m=lame-mp3
