I've been doing some recording using audacity 1.2.6 on windows Vista(yuk i know) and i'm having some issues. The recording goes well for a few seconds then something cuts the volume right back. if i stop the input source, then start it again(without stopping the recording track) the same thing happens again.
is this some auto-scale feature in audacity responding to high gain/distortion?
is it my sound card doing funny things?
should i blame windows?
more importantly how can i solve this work around it so i can continue recording...

Re: Fading Volume While Recording
This is not an Audacity feature.
What is your recording setup?
If you are using a headset device, it could be that. Some headsets have an "Auto Gain" feature built in.
