I guess that you installed the VST bridge because you have loads of VST effects that you use in other programs?
Chances are that one of those effects is incompatible with Audacity.

IMHO, the best solution, use VST with your other programs, and use LADSPA and Nyquist plug-ins with Audacity.

All I want is distortion, I want a decent distortion or overdrive to work with. But even when I remove the effects in the folder, it only works when I remove VST bridge.

Do you have any VST effects on your computer, or any VST programs?

There are three distortion effects in the SWH LADSPA suite ported to Windows:
http://audacityteam.org/beta/ladspa/ladspa-0.4.15.exe

In other words, you don't need the VST Enabler to run those because they are LADSPA plug-ins. What Steve is driving at is that the Enabler looks in several system folders for VST plug-ins to load in Audacity (as well as in the Audacity plug-ins folder), so if you have VST plug-ins elsewhere the only way to find out which is causing the problem is to move them (say into C:) one by one until Audacity starts.

If VST plug-ins elsewhere is the problem, but you need to run some in Audacity, you can try this older VST Enabler:
http://www.gaclrecords.org.uk/VST_Enabler.dll

This only looks in the Audacity Plug-Ins folder, but has similar limitations to the Bridge (plug-ins have only a tabular interface, no VSTi support, and some plug-ins are not compatible).
