E-Drum recording

Hi. I just downloaded Audacity so I could record my e-drum. As MIDI interface I use a EDIROL UM-2ex by Roland. Well, whenever I open Audacity and try to record, I get no respons. I tried to change alot of settings but nothing really happend. So I was wondering if anyone could help me. Thanks on advance.

Audacity is an audio recorder, not a midi recorder. Support for midi is very limited.

If you want to record the midi data, you need a midi sequences such as Cakewalk or Cubase. There are also lots of free midi sequencers, but I don't know which are the best ones on Windows.
Alternatively, if you have a midi instrument that you can play and produces sound (audio) from your computer, then you can record that audio with Audacity by setting up your computer sound system so that the recording source is "Stereo Mix" (sometimes called "Mix" or "What U Hear"). have a look on the main Audacity website in the "help" section - the procedure is the same as if you want to record streaming audio.
