No sound during playback.....
(Windows XP Pro SP2) Stable version recorded fine & played a couple of times (.wav file and.aup file). Now no playback in Audacity even though I can see the motion in the playback green "bars" indicating activity. I have tried both devices available in Windows Sounds and Audio Devices, ie. M-Audio and SigmaTel. Neither work. However, I am able to get .wav playback on AVS Audio Editor as well as Windows Media Player. I have tried other .wav files with the exact same results; Audacity =no ... other players=yes, I'm baffled and would be grateful for a solution.

Your problem interests me because I have the exact OPPOSITE problem! I get the sound perfectly in Audacity but no Windows player will play it.

Hi kozikowski:
Volume is turned all the way up. Thanks for the suggestion.
Have a look at this screen shot ... It explains a lot about my situation, so far.

@ cosmicintergalactic
That all looks correct to me - the only thing missing from that picture is the playback device settings in Audacity
"Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O"
@ Furball
Export as "16 bit 44.1 kHz Microsoft PCM WAV" format. If you need further assistance, please start a new topic so that you can get our undivided attention.

!! Sound during playback.....
Everyone!
Thanks very much for the suggestions.
Actually, I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling Audacity and everything works fine now.
The music bit I was working on can be heard at http://avisturner.com/rockity_bits.wav 14.87MB / 1:28.45 min.
Now I can get some music done. I have several hundred pieces that need help.

Excellent sound clip. Are you actually hearing those extreme bass notes, or are you flying blind? Trust me, they're fine.
