Okay So hear me out, this isn't another post about how I cant find stereo mix in vista... Heres the thing: I downloaded a new idt driver that enables stereo mix but when I go into audacity (or adobe audition that matter) to record from it, i get no sound. I watch the meter on both windows and audacity, and it never moves, also I have set the Stereo Mix to default, but still no luck. So now I'm stuck. What should I do to get this to record?
Thanks

What's an IDT driver, do you mean the semiconductor manufacturer? If your audio device does not support stereo mix, the most successful virtual driver to let you record computer playback is usually said to be Freecorder:
http://www.freecorder.com/freecorder3

This is a browser add-on and records to the hard drive itself - you don't record with Audacity or any other software, but you can of course edit the file with Audacity after recording it.

So I tried free corder, same problem, My audio driver (IDT took over for sigmatel on producing the drivers for intel motherboards and enabled Stereo Mix in the last release) does support stereo mix but when I try things such as freecorder or audacity, neither program detects any audio, even when there is music playing from WMP or a skype call is in progress or any other windows system audio or any audio at all. I do however have a plantronics usb mic plugged in and my speakers are connected to the front jack of my computer. Would this cause problems with stereo mix?
