Audacity Won't Record Anymore

I had such a great time recording songs from my guitar and wanted to turn them into mp3s so i went the site and downloaded LAME. Now it wont record anymore. When I press record it just bounces around 1 second. Even when I play it still wont. Can anybody help?

This is the magic time we usually tell people to stop using Audacity 1.2 and use Audacity 1.3.12.

Audacity 1.2 is very old and is no longer being supported, patched or updated. It can have stability problems on newer machines. See if Audacity 1.2 will allow you to uninstall it before you put on 1.3.12 so you don't get any holdovers of problems.
