Phone Line Recording in Audacity 1.2.1

Post by pixturesk » Mon May 26, 2008 1:05 pm

I am running Win98SE on a P3 600, 256 megs, AC97 built in audio, ultra lite cable internet, Audacity 1.2.1 (1.2.6 won't work properly, constant errors, stops recording without notice). I have my telephone plugged into my computer. I select "Phone Line", make a phone call, click record but nothing happens, no wave form activity. How can I perform this function. I am a non-techie so please make your reply easy to follow. Thanks.

Try using "Windows Sound Recorder". If you can get Sound Recorder to record a clip, then it should be possible to get Audacity to do it. If it's no go with Sound Recorder, then Audacity can not do it either.

I add:
How is your phone connected to your computer. What about cables inside the computer?
(You select PhoneLine where? In Recording Control)
