Poor recording quality

I have just got a new laptop (Dell Latitude E6410) with Windows 7 and installed Audacity on it. I had previously used Audacity successfully to record records via my DJ mixer on my old computer. I use a Behringer UCA202 to connect the mixer to the laptop. However, with the new set-up the sound quality of the recording sounds awful - like the track's been recorded down a lengthy corridor with background hiss. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for your help,
Andy

You may be accidentally recording from multiple sources, including output from Audacity which is producing the "corridor" reverberation/echo effect,
(output is delayed by latency).
Try disabling all the recording devices except the USB device ... http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 1&p=107010
