Hey All
Does anyway know of a way of DEMOFYING up a real mp3 track using Audacity?
I want to ruff up real recordings a bit to make them sound a bit more like a tribute band have recorded it themselves.
I still need it to sound enough like the original though.
My reasons for this is for a pub quiz I'm putting together, and I thought it could be quiet good fun.
Thanks!

Try messing around with extreme settings with the Equalization effect.
You will find this much easier to do if you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12.

what do you mean by demo-fying ?????
I would make the best track possible
and save it as a wav file not mp3
so as not to lose any quality.
Not sure why a tribute band would sound rouhged up
Is that the way the original band sounded ???
for a pub quiz do you really need to be all that accurate ???

Hi
As stated I'm trying to make the songs sound like "CRAP" home made demos.
Its a funny pub quiz!
So I would say something like "Name the band who are playing the early demo recording of the following song....."
TA!

It could also be amusing if you use the Change Tempo effect to make the song much faster or slower.
The Change Tempo effect will reduce the sound quality, but in this case that is good.
