"What you hear" and stereo recording?
Since there's no free audio converters that I can find that will convert MP4(Apple iTunes propietary format...or are there?) to MP3 I'm trying to re-record 2 iTunes songs I purchased into Audacity so I can play it as an Mp3. I'm using "What you hear" as the source but it seems I can only use a mono track. I'd like to record to stereo....how can I do this?

To record a stereo track you need to set stereo recording in preferences:
"Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" "Channels = 2 (stereo)"
I don't use iTunes myself, but from what I've heard, I thought that you could convert from MP4 to MP3 in iTunes.

Indeed you can - but I think it keeps the DRM on the MP3stevethefiddle wrote: I don't use iTunes myself, but from what I've heard, I thought that you could convert from MP4 to MP3 in iTunes.
One way to do it would be to create a playlist - burn a CD - then rip the CD to MP3 (this is the "classical" way of removing DRM)

Re: "What you hear" and stereo recording?
Thanks guys! I've found the right setting in the prefs. I thought I had to get a track on the timeline before I recorded...like other DAWS. I rarely use Audacity for recording...mostly editing.
