Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Can't find Recovery Files Path

Post by olafolaf » Sat Nov 13, 2010 10:10 am

Fine program, but Audacities documentation is driving me crazy. I want to use the Recovery tool but the most essential information about it is missing:
It's being directed to read a paragraph in a certain book and no one telling you on which pages it is. Sorry if i sound angry, but i am going crazy here :/

What is the file path of the recovery files? (i am running Win7 x64).

Thx folks!

Do you mean this documentation? http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/CrashRecovery

The first paragraph says:
* If you had never saved an Audacity project before the crash, Audacity 1.2 will ask upon restart if you want to delete temporary files. Say "No". The temporary files will be in Audacity's temporary folder. Check the Directories tab of Audacity preferences to find out where your temporary folder is, then recover the data from that folder by one of the manual or automatic methods below. On Windows the default Audacity temporary directory is at:
o Windows 2000/XP: C:Documents and Settings<your user name>Local SettingsTempaudacity_1_2_temp
o Windows Vista/7: C:Users<your user name>AppDataLocalTempaudacity_1_2_temp
This is a bit out of date as Audacity 1.2.x has been superseded by Audacity 1.3.x
The correct version of Audacity to use with Windows 7 is Audacity 1.3.12 (download page: http://audacityteam.org/download/ )
The default path to the temporary folder on Windows 7 for Audacity 1.3.x is:
C:Users<your user name>AppDataLocalTempaudacity_temp
However, in Audacity 1.3.12, crashes should rarely occur, and if they do then Audacity should be able to recover the data automatically. If Audacity 1.3.12 is unable to recover the data automatically then it is unlikely that it will be possible to recover the data by other methods.
