Hi,
I'm trying to record from a tape deck to audacity. The cable is plugged into the headphone jack on my tape recorder, and the microphone jack on my laptop (I am using Vista).
When i go to 'Edit - Preferences - Audio I/O', I am able to select a playback device (Speaker/HP: Realtek high definition), but when I click on the box in the 'Recording Device' section, the box is empty...
I'm a little desperate now - if I press play on the tape recorder, my laptop speakers don't seem to play the tape either...
The message I get when I click on 'Record' is, 'Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device setting and the project sample rate '
I'd be really grateful if someone could help me out with this.....!
Maybe you could email me on [email protected]
Thanks ever so much,
Claire

Re: Can't select recording device
It looks like Vista is hiding the recording inputs. Have a look at this page:cbess wrote:When i go to 'Edit - Preferences - Audio I/O', I am able to select a playback device (Speaker/HP: Realtek high definition), but when I click on the box in the 'Recording Device' section, the box is empty...
