Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Lenco USB

Post by stefan » Tue May 13, 2008 8:53 am

I've just bought a Lenco USB Turntable and downloaded Audacity 1.3.5 (since 1.2.6 didnt work properly).
When trying to record I get the error: "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate".

I use a Dell Vostro 1500 with Vista Prof.ed.
The settings are: Recording device: MME Microphone (USB Audio CODEC). For the rest of the settings, I've tried every combination. Still the same message.
Although Vista signals with a sound that a the turntable is connected, Vista doesn't seem to recognise it (there is no message like in Windows XP). Could this be the problem? What can I do about it????

Stefan,

I can't offer direct help as I am an XP user not Vista (and I wouldn't touch vista with a ten-foot pole!).

But you might get some useful insight from reading this page on the Audacity Wiki: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... s_Vista_OS

You may find thsi section on USB turntables useful too: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... turntables

Thanks for the tip. I've tried all things mentioned in Wiki, to no avail. Still the same error.
To make things worse, I have Audacity installed (1.2.6) on XP, and it works BUT the recording stops after anything between 5 sec and two minutes.
I've read about this, and there seem to be no single or simple solution.
