I am using a USB turntable to convert records into music files.

Some of the records are in poor shape.

Is there a way to improve the quality of the recording? (Removing crackling and hissing noises)

Thanks.

See: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Trans ... _exporting

And this article from the 1.3 manual (still applies if you arev suing 1.2 but you are strongly advised to upgrade to the latest Beta 1.3.12): http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... _Exporting

You can get 1.3 fro here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

I do a lot of LP transcriptions the tools I use are Audacity - in conjunction with Brian Davies excelllent ClickRepair (this s/w costs a little at $40 but is only a liitle shy of magic IMHO in the way it deals with your clicks and posp).
