Problems with Noise Removal

Post by Sandro67 » Thu May 08, 2008 3:04 am

Hey everyone! I don't know if this has been asked before or not, but I'm having problems with Noise Removal on Audacity 1.2.6. I follow all the instructions as specified (getting a noise profile using static, then selected the whole track and removing noise), but whenever I try to remove noise from ANY track, it adds this bizarre sound to the track (it sounds kinda like a wah wah pedal). I've tried using different levels on the little removal scale thing, but I still always get this sound. Any advice on how to fix/remove this? Thanks!

The noise removal is much better in Audacity 1.3.x than in 1.2.6
BUT
even with 1.3.5, if the noise level that you are trying to remove is too high, you will get weird artefacts. The effect is designed for removing low level continuous noise, such as background hiss from cassette tapes, but will not work well with large amounts of noise.
