I am trying to listen to a recording that was made using a recorder. The output file is a mp3. When opened in Audacity I want to be able to go to any point along the recording. So if I want to go to the 15th minute of the recording I want to be able to click the start of the 15th minute mark and then automatically start listening to the recording starting at the 15th minute. Kind of like using Windows Media Player but I need to use Audacity to do this because Audacity has other features that I need to edit the recording. Can Audacity do this ?

I hope I'm clear and not confusing anyone.

Thanks in advance

Victor

What happens if you click on the blue waves at the fifteen minute mark and press the SpaceBar (Play)?

Upgrade to 1.3.12, which you can download from here:
http://audacityteam.org/download/

It has tools at the bottom of the project window which allow you to select a section of audio by entering the beginning and end times in minutes and seconds, (down to thousandths of a second). When the selection is entered, just hit the space bar to play.

Note that you can have both 1.2 and 1.3 instaalled on your machine, but you can only use one of them at any time. Projects saved in 1.3 will not open in 1.2.
