Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Temporarytopwindow

Post by MidC » Wed May 07, 2008 9:19 am

Hi,

I have installed Audacity on 2 PCs, one works fine but the second wont even run the software.

When running the software on the second PC I receive the following error message:

temporarytopwindow: audacity.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x0040b7ec" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be read.

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

I searched the forum and found that a few other users had similar problems some of which found that uninstalled the VST Bridge plug-in fixed the problem. I never installed the VST Bridge plug-in and have no reference of that on either PC.
I have tried versions 1.2.4b and 1.2.6 both which give the same error message.
I tried updating my sound drivers but still got the same message.

Can anybody help?

Try Audacity 1.3.4 instead - it's a much enhanced version and 1.2.x is very old now.

@Steve,

Thanks for that.

After installing v1.3.5 the program loaded correctly.
