ok so i have been trying to record multiple guitar and piano tracks for a while now... i can record the first track and it sounds great but then when i record the second, the levels seem to fluctuate. i am recording with a radioshack mic (the best they have to offer). what is weird is that i can record vocals over it flawlessly... look at the attachment to see what i mean

The AUP isn't a sound file, but it's not hard to imagine what happened. You're recording your own first performance twice. Are you recording Mix-Out or Stereo-Mix? Try resetting your Windows Control Panel so it's recording Line-In or Mic-In or whatever your microphone is connected to.
Windows Control Panel

If you still get worbly levels, you need to be on headphones to record Real Life. No working speakers in the room with you. That and you need to go into Windows Control Panels and make sure the conferencing service isn't running.

I use Radio Shack equipment all the time and I think they get blamed for bad recordings all the time. We have seven or eight 3013 microphones around and multiple other ones.

I'll let you know when one of them actually causes a bad recording.

I tried recording with headphones but that didn't work. It almost as if the mic records only when there is low levels on the previous track...I'm hoping that fixing the control panel will work. I'm a newbie at this as you can see
