Im a new user to Audacity and I have a very nooby question.
How do you record audio that is playing on your computer? I know you can do it with a mic but can you record the audio strait from the computer?
For example im playing a video game and i want to record the audio that is coming from that game. I dont want to just hold my mic next to my speakers.
Is there any way to do this in version 1.2 or 1.3 for that matter?

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: recording windows audio (noob question)
We generally recommend dropping Audacity 1.2 as a hot rock and install 1.3.12.

You don't have to uninstall 1.2. Just stop using it. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2

That has come up once or twice.
