OK... I recorded a podcast with music in it and exported it in stereo to an .mp3 using CastBlaster. The file is ABSOLUTELY in stereo. It is set that way in CastBlaster, the Properties in Windows Explorer shows that it is in stereo, and I listened to it in Windows Media Player. IT IS IN STEREO!
But... when I open it in Audacity, it is in Mono and only plays one channel. So I opened "You're My Best Friend" by Queen as a comaprison (the second verse is in split stereo). And it opens with both channels and sounds great.
Why is my file opening in mono? How can I get it to open in stereo? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Opening a .MP3 in stereo
You should probably stop using Audacity1.2. It's very out of date and no longer supported or updated.
It also defaults to mono.

I told myself that the first person to reflexivly post "Use 1.3... it's newer", I was going to broil in flames.
But you had logic behind it, and most importantly... it worked.
Many thanks.
