You need to set your sound card to record directly from the input that you are using. You probably have it set to record from "Stereo Mix" (sometimes called "Mix" or "What U Hear"). Change it to record from the Line, or Mic input (depending on which you are using.
There is usually a loudspeaker icon near the time/date on your Desktop - that's where you can access the sound card settings.
If there is no loudspeaker icon, you will need to go into the Sounds settings in the Windows Control Panel to make the new settings.
Also, it is highly recommended that you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12

I don't think there is an actual tutorial on this, but a common mistake is to record Stereo-Mix or Mix-Out instead of your microphone or sound mixer. This is the setting you need to capture internet audio or shows, but it's exactly the wrong setting for live performances into a microphone.
Go into Windows Control Panels and make sure you're set to record from the right thing.

This is the tutorial for recording Internet Audio. These are exactly the settings you
don't want.

You need to select "Line in" in the sound card mixer (look for a loudspeaker icon near the Time/Date on your Desktop), or if you cannot access the sound card settings there, go to the Windows Control Panel (as suggested by Koz) and set the sound card to use Line in.

<<<i see stereo input signal>>>
How do you see stereo? What tells you that you have a stereo show?
If you have a USB microphone (you didn't say) then the sound from them is almost always mono no matter how you have Audacity set. Some computers allow you to force that single sound onto both left and right. If yours won't do that, then you may need to make stereo in Audacity.
When you finish capturing, do you have a stereo show with blue waves only on Left?

Could you post a screenshot of what you are seeing on the mixer.
Use "Upload Attachment" below the forum "Compose Message" window to upload the image.
