Problem with What U hear

Post by p3aul » Tue Oct 19, 2010 3:53 pm

I know this sounds like a similar post below, but it isn't. I too am running Audacity on a Win 7 home premium 64 bit machine. using Realtek software. I have successfully switched between microphone and What U hear but it is confusing and I can't remember the sequence I used to switch. Right now it is stuck on Microphone and I can't record what I hear. The screen grabs shown in the post below mine don't show the same dialogs that appear in mine. I have managed to enable "Show disabled devices" and "Show disconnected devices" although it didn't make any difference. here is my sound dialog. Notice that it is different from the one posted below. I hope someone can help me!
Thanks,
Paul

That looks like it is set up to record "Stereo Mix" (the same as "What U Hear").

No, According to realtek it's a jack used for input from mp3 players. If I try to disable either Stereo Mix or microphone I get an error when I try to record. The "Set as default" is grayed out.

According to realtek, what is a jack for input from mp3 players?
Is this in some documentation? Was it on a forum?

I don't understand what you mean - In the image "Stereo Mix" is set as the default :?
