Audacity Forum

I am very sorry to ask what is such a simple question - but i am very new to sound mixing. i have successfully opened a mp3 file but when i hit "play" the song plays so quickly i can not figure out what is playing. i simply want to put two pieces of sound together.

You have probably almost certainly not opened an MP3 file - but insttead are trying to open a filetype that Audacity does not support (Apple AAC by any chance?).

Audacaity supports WAV/AIFF, MP3, Ogg (And Flac in the Beta 1.3) - all other file tpes will need conversion to one of these prior to opening in Audacity.
