Hello, I'm running 1.2.6 and am doing some recordings via a USB headset.
There is a background hum and I am trying to get rid of it.
I select a "blank" bit of the recording (no talking from me) and go to effects>noise removal and get the noise profile.
I then select the whole recording and effects>nose removal. I've found that I need to be at the minimum setting for removal or it sounds odd.
When I do the noise removal I can sometimes hear what sounds like a quiet echo of myself in there. If I use compression or normalize it makes that echo louder.
If I don't do the noise removal, just do compression or normalize it sounds fine... but that background hum is there.
How do I remove a hum like that? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Re: Noise reduction causing echo
Try Audacity 1.3.4 - I find the noise removal in that version much better (even though it says "beta", there are very few bugs in it and it is generally very stable).
