rerecording old sound over new tracks
Hey all, when I try to record a track it works fine....for the first track. The I go to play back the second track (and this is always an instrument directly into the line in jack on my computer not a mic jack) and record say a lead part over a bass or rhythm track. And the second track will pick up the sound of the first track recorded and record a crappier version of it on the second track with the lead part. I've tried everything I can think of to fix this and am getting quite annoyed. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: rerecording old sound over new tracks
This happens when Audacity is set to record from the Mix-Out or What-You-Hear instead of just the Line-In or Mic-In. Doing voiceovers on a Windows machine is very entertaining.
