Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

MP3 exporting problem with windows 7

Post by jemilio » Mon Oct 11, 2010 11:40 pm

I have been using Audacity 1.3.12 Beta without problems on XP, recently I´ve upgraded to windows 7 and although it exports .mp3 without problems, when i try listening to it on my website it won´t play.
After this finding I saw the properties of the files in another computer (XP) and it is being saved as a .mpeg type file with an .mp3 termination, but windows 7 displays it as type .mp3 file
How can I solve my problem?

Does the MP3 file play OK before you upload it to your website? If it does, then the problem is likely to be with the website rather than the file.
Does it play OK locally?

It does play locally without problem, the website was built to only accept .mp3, when I switched to windows 7 and uploaded it displayed like an .mp3 file, but when I view the properties on non windows 7 it´s a differente kind of file that Audacity is saving

Could you post a link to the mp3 file so that we can have a look at it.

Did they say what was wrong with it?
Have you asked him/her?

Sorry, that's too big for my mail box.
Try uploading a short test file (less than 1 MB) to your website. If that fails, post a link to the file AND upload the mp3 here.

That file looks fine.
MP3 is a shortened name for "MPEG 1 layer 3" (or occasionally "MPEG 2 layer 3")
